    Default August Practical Rifle Shoot

It's the 10th of the month so that means it's time to open up registration for this month's match.

Sign-up link for the August LRGC Practical Rifle match.

This month we're going back to another fan favorite, the MEU(SOC) Carbine qualification course. It's going to be run in a similar fashion as the Boomer-Bravo match so you will be able to sign up for a time slot, show up and shoot, then leave. Please review the CoF to help speed things along. You may bring as many fully loaded magazines as you want to carry and you will be able to reload whenever you feel it's needed. However, you will need one magazine loaded with only TWO rounds for the beginning of Phase II. If you have any questions about the match please let me know.

Even though this is a "short" course it will still be on the Big Bore range. I can't wait, see you guys there!!

    Tim

As most of you know by now there is a high probability that our area is going to be hit by hurricane Irene this weekend. We will be making a final decision by 1500hrs Friday whether to cancel the Saturday shoot. We will update this thread once a decision has been made.

    Regards,
    Gary

I hope everyone got through Irene without too many issues.

We had a great time yesterday. We were able to get every competitor, and even a couple of repeats, through the CoF before the rains started. Since this was a Marine themed match we didn't use our standard IDPA targets, instead we went with USMC targets. The targets have very faint scoring zones that were difficult to see from more than a few feet away. This creates a realistic target since people couldn't focus on the scoring zones and instead had to focus on the target itself. The actual course of fire wasn't too difficult, but when you add in the USMC targets and the time contstraints it can be very challenging to "qualify". Only the first run through counted as the official score.

We had 5 people "qualify" on points, but four of them were "unqualified" by their times. One person was knocked out by .25 seconds!

Enough talking, here are the results.

If anyone has any questions on the results let me know.

I really want to thank Jesse, Jerald, Dimitry, and Paul for your help. It definitely made the match go very smooth.
