i have seen this before. it is not a fear of armed homeowners that keeps them out of one's house but rather a respect by the swiss for individual's and love of ones fellow citizen.

what they do better then the rest of the world is PRESERVE & ESTEEM Swiss culture and heritage.

I've seen several videos like this one about the Swiss and their 'gun tradition'. In my opinion, the 'Swiss case' is powerful evidence against the anti-gun platitude that 'more guns leads to more crime'. From what I've read, around 50-60 percent of Swiss homes have military rifles in them. But Switzerland's violent crime and murder rates are so low that sometimes statistics aren't even kept.
John Lott has even remarked in several interviews that Switzerland allows civilians to carry weapons, and many regions do not even require strict licensing procedures.
Contrast this with Australia and the UK, where guns have been banned for civilian ownership, and we see that these island nations have much higher violent crime and murder rates than Switzerland.
The guns themselves are not the problem when it comes to crime rates and social ills. Unfortunately, a lot of people cannot come to this very transparent conclusion, and instead argue for laws that deny me the right to protect myself from both criminals and tyranny.

It would be cool to visit Switzerland.
