    Unhappy Springfield XdM assembly/reassembly/screwup

So, yeah, I screwed up royally tonight. I cleaned my XDm .45, and as I reassembled it, I had a momentary lapse of attention, and failed to reinsert my recoil rod and spring before I put the slide onto the frame. And now... It's locked up tighter than a nun's... Habit. Does anyone have an idea on how I can unlock it?

If its anything like when you do that with a glock, all you do is move the slide manually to where it would be in normal battery and start from step 1 (pull the trigger and disassemble as normal) Im not 100% sure if the XDs are exactly the same since I don't own one but since they are a wanna be glock I would assume the striker system is set up the same.
I think hickok45 discuses this in one of his glock videos.

That's exactly what I did. It was hard to do, at first, because I guess I didn't have it fully in battery, but once I did it, the weapon disassembled easily again.

I had the pieces laid out in front of me, and still screwed up. That's what I get for cleaning guns while watching TV.

I did something like that once with my M4. When I was still building it and didn't have a buffer or spring in it yet, I pulled the charging handle and bolt back . . . Well, since there's no spring to push it back forward, it was stuck in the buffer tube for a while. I pushed it back into place using the ridges on the BCG.

I put the recoil spring in backwards on my XD once. I can't say that I've ever forgotten to put it in though. Shit happens though.
