Walther P-1 Disassembly
I Picked up a P38/P1 but can,t get it to dismount barrel and slide from the frame. I pull the forward takedown latch but it woun't free up the components as it should. I gave it a complete solvent bath and scrub but had no luck...anyone know the trick???

Go to Youtube.com and search p38 disassembly. Thats where I learned. You can learn how to tear apart and reassemble pretty much anything on Youtube.

With the takedown lever in the TD position, you have to pull the trigger to release the slide forward and off the frame.

Re: Walther P-1 Disassembly
What I have found to work well:
-Slide locked back, mag out, dissassembly lever down.
- Hold slide, and gently ease forward till it stops, lower hammer and remove the slide.
On reassembly, make sure the ejector and other levers are out of the way when reinstalling the slide. Might go/join the p38forum, http://www.p38forum.com/ for further help, and to learn more about that great pistol.
