Question Pocket-carry holster for S&W snubbie

    Hey guys,

I just acquired a S&W M&P340CT for my jacket/pant pocket... Is there a brand and/or type of holster you'd recommend? This will snubbie will primarily be an addition (or back-up, whatever you'd call it) to my IWB for when it's cold, when the IWB will be harder to reach for under 2 over coats... my hand will most likely be ON the revolver most of the time while carrying (when they're in the pocket with the gun, out of the cold).

I've also heard people say that they don't use a holster for pocket carry most of the time... is that unsafe?

Also, what is the difference between the performance a .38+P and a .357 mag for self-defense? Is the kick of the .357 mag THAT much harder than a .38+p?

    Thanks!

I'll try and answer as much as I can. My carry piece is a Ruger SP101 snubby.

For a holster, i would recommend the Nemesis:
    http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...521&t=11082005

It is inexpensive and protects your trigger. Nothing I can think of would be worse than having a .357 go off in my pants.

There is a difference between 38 +p and 357 in performance. This site compares the two pretty good:
    http://www.snubnose.info/docs/38-snub_vs_357-snub.htm

Depending on the weight of your gun, shooting full 357's can be exciting and painful. I shoot 357 from mine all the time, but some of the light weight S&W I wouldn't dream of doing it on a regular basis.

    hope this helps

I have 2 pocket holsters for my sunbbie. The first one is an no-brand leather holster that I bought from ebay. It prints like a wedge in my pocket. I never felt comfortable with it. The second is a cheap uncle mikes pocket holster. I love it. It stays in the pocket when you draw. Prints like a square wallet and keeps the gun from going thud when I sit down. I have heard of another holster maker that many seem to recommend. The guy's name is Robert Mikka (spelling?) The company is called Mikka's Holsters. He has a web site you can order from, but I don't think you will be able to find them in stores.
    Hope this helps.

I'm going to suggest you contact Robert Mikas at this link.

I've use a Mikas holster for my Taurus 85 (same size as your S&W) for about a year now...no complaints...and I do recommend them.

I'm with Whitewolf, Desantis Nemisis, best pocket holster I have ever used, sticks in the pocket and doesn't print with my P3AT. And not expensive either!

I have an Uncle Mike's for my pocket gun. It keeps the trigger covered and keeps the lint out of the piece. I have a Nemesis that sits in my box of holsters. I much prefer the Uncle Mike's.

Uncle mikes is great. I have Galco IWB Stow and Go; has worked for both my .44 charter bulldog and my SW model 40 (new retro version).

Desantis Nemisis or a Robert Mikas.
You won't go wrong with either.

Nemisis. For the price. It is hard to beat. That and a couple speed strips in the other pocket and your ready to go. Carries very nicely. Never had anyone comment or notice it. Draws nicely too.
