I've never been to this one. Can anyone offer input on what to expect?

Your normal gun show items, minus the beef jerky, jewelry, gutter guards and other junk.
The building is smaller that the Greensburg venue, at least it seems like it. But it has working AC, so the smell is not like Gburg shows LOL

We will be set up as usual, stop by say hi and by a machine gun.

There are at least 2-3 dealers who specialize in AR parts that frequent this show. Everything from complete uppers to small parts like safety detent springs.

You have to have the guns you're carrying zip-tied by show personnel when you go in. They attach a maroon-colored card to the gun with the zip-tie, ostensibly for "security purposes," but IMO this is "eyewash" and only serves to alert the vendors and show-goers "hey look at me, I'm for sale!"

The guards tear the maroon tag off when you leave, that's the "security purpose," they know you didn't steal it off a table if it has a maroon card attached.

The "You brought that one in with you" card attached on entry and the "OK to release" card given by a vendor upon a sale has been a practice of PGCA for a good many years now. It started when the show was located at the old Greengate Mall location after a good deal of grab and run thefts of firearms. While not perfect it has made it easier for the door security personel to check for stollen firearms, longarms especially. Handguns are easier to steal of course as they are smaller and smaller items (Magazines, scopes, knives, etc) disapear with alarming frequency. That being said the loss rate of firearms at this show has dropped considerably since the "security card" practice has been iplimented.

Noah is right about one thing, the little cards attached on entry DO let vendors (and others as well) know your firearm is more than likely up for grabs. I've seen guys who have walked in with primo guns get surrounded by potential buyers like a bleeding swimmer gets surrounded by sharks.

This can be both good and bad of course. Many of these buyers are genuinly interested in buying something good that walks in at a fair price (bear in mind gun dealers have to re-sell an item and make a profit). Alas many other of these guys are parasites who would like nothing better than to get your highly collectable firearm for pennies on the dollar.

Either way, it's ok cool to bring arms to the show.

Are you coming down Noah? I'll be set up in my usual spot.

Blowing PGCA off this time in favor of Wash Co on 24 Sept. Just don't feel like making the drive for the same-old.

Went to Wash Co. for the first time the last show they held there and enjoyed it. Chatted with your 2nd Team for a bit.

Has anyone travelled Rt 28 east from Pittsburgh city to the venue site?

Have heard it was under construction... even still, may be better than heading west towards the city after a Monroeville show and the Squirrel Hill tunnel back-up...
All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.
