No the PAR-3 (at least it looks like one up there) is not convertible back and forth, at least not with more work than what you're willing to do.

As far as "not convertible in the field" I don't think anything short of welding will do it, you'd be surprised what you can do with a leatherman. Oh and the spare part that you're 20 miles away from? Did you just drop it 10 ft back or is it really back at home?

    Just playing devils advocate there.

Yes im gonna leave the convert parts at home lol. If I didnt i might as well not bother converting it, and the spare gas tube will have a welded plug in it and the gas piston will be lopped off and il get a 5rd mag a 30rd would be a bit much lol. And it's probly gonna be a one time deal unless i like it more than my stevens 223, also plan on usin the siide rail thats on it for a 2x scope or a 1-4x maybe I'll try it on a ghog or two before its too late for them

A switch would not be legal.

A few yrs back I ask a WCO about this subject except it was an SKS with the gas piston removed rendering it basically a straight pull bolt action. What he told me was it would still be considered a semi auto firearm only it would be a malfunctioning semi auto. Cant recall the exact words but basically its still considered "auto loading" because of the bolt being activated by the recoil spring is actually loading a round into the chamber not by the operator as in a true bolt action. Easy way to find out if its legal or not is to call the Game Comm.

Yeah right, THat's like calling the PPD and asking if Open Carry is legal.

If you want to know if something's legal the only things to do is read the law or call a lawyer.

What is wrong with calling the people that deal with the statutes? And I bet if I stop in to my local PSP barracks and ask about open carry ,They will tell me its legal . So your saying your better off interpreting the law yourself rather than those that are trained in it and enforce it.....So what if your interpretation is incorrect or differs ? I guess you'll be getting a citation (maybe loose your firearm for a while and telling the district magistrate how you think the statute is or should be interpreted ,And that one I doubt you'd win. As for a Lawyer If one is feeling generous he or she may tell you for free But I doubt it!

Problem is, you aren't asking about law per say, you are asking about game regulations.

Like the ATF, regulations are open to interpretation. While it may be legal, you may end up with a legal battle. YMMV. And I would call it a fairly safe wager to say that every GCO that passes you by will be giving you the rundown and call in.
