This has been floating around forever. Here's an article about it from 2000.
    http://prospect.org/cs/articles?arti...t_to_bear_arms

i've never seen anyone provide a link to an actual piece of legislation, drafted or otherwise. Just articles that come up every 6 months or so.

There is no Representative Maslack in VT. I don't know if there ever really was.

    Big dumb nonsense.
It's an old article. Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming all have Constitutional carry.

Thumbs up Re: Vermont, A tax for non firearm owners

Kennesaw, GA did the same thing in the '80's. After passing the law that EVERY head of household own a gun, they went back a few years later, and put a "Police Protection Surcharge/Tax" on those who objected!

It is just as much tyranny to force someone to exercise a right as it is to deny them the exercise of it.

That is not quite what Kennesaw did. Kennesaw passed an ordinance requiring a firearm in every home, and conscientious objectors are exempt. There is also no tax.

Here is the text of the law:

Sec. 34-21. - Heads of households to maintain firearms.

    (a)

In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.

    (b)

Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.

Tried to rep you but I have to "spread it around" first.

A pacifist dosen't ask to be protected or try to take anything away from others. They just don't believe they should retaliate with violence.
    Some people just plain suck.

You want a credible source? Here you go…

The Vermont Legislative Bill Tracking System — H.0760: Registration by Citizens Not Owning Firearms

It was drafted, read, and sent to the Committee on Government Operations, where it died a silent death.
