I own this. After speaking with gunsmiths they all say the RRA is the best made AR 15. They start at $1200. It out shoots both of my friends Bushmasters and Colts respectively. Mine is pretty decked out I also have the Dominator sight rial. That means it comes EOTech ready.

    Just my 2 cents.

Best answer I can give would be which one "works" best with you.

    Points to note:

AK has very short buttstock and length of pull (only about 12"). You didn't say if you wanted a folding stock model, but keep that in mind.

Magazine changes with the AK take some getting used to. You have to insert and remove magazines with a pivoting motion. The long curved magazine also makes for a modified stance if you plan on shooting it prone.

You'll have less options for sights with the AK. If you like the tangent rear or don't mind hanging optics off the side mount it is okay though those mounts do add a bit of weight making the gun top heavy. The picatanny rail set ups you can get are okay, but way up front on the skimpy handguard.

The M4 has a terrific muzzle blast due to the short barrel. Less recoil with the .223 round of course, but it does get your attention. Also, I don't own one, but I've read that they can be less reliable unless carefully maintained. (my own gun is a classic A2 and has been utterly reliable)

With the M4 you have tons of options with sights, picatanny rails and optics. Do you want a standard top on your gun, removable top handle/sight, or flat top? There are many options to choose from. Ditto the butt can be fixed or collapsing with various lengths you can choose.

Bottom line. Try lots of variations, then choose whichever works best.

    Good luck.

AR for accuracy, if target shooting IS your intended goal.

    Ummm, not the AK.

Do some searchy/clicky. There are 1.62 Bazillion threads/articles/opinions on the age old AK vs AR. There is also 1.62 Bazillion configurations for the AR. Consider a bull barrel/flat top with good glass and do your thing.
