West PA BBQ Check In!
Looks like everything is a "go".
The date will be Saturday, August 13th starting at 12-noon to roughly 4pm. Rain or Shine.
Please only check in you are almost completely sure that you will attend!
This is an Open Carry, Concealed Carry or if you choose None Carry.
Location will be at the Ross Township park. Here is a link for more info about the park:http://www.ross.pa.us/contacts/conta...irections.html
As of right now, we have someone bringing a BBQ cooker (or grill?) and I will be supplying sodas and bottled water.
I dont know what the consensus or laws are about beer.
I personally dont really drink. But if others are okay with it, and you can act like a responsible adult. I guess its BYOB. (Please let me know if you folks object to this and it will be noted)
There will be playground facilities available, so if you have trouble finding a babysitter you're more than welcome to bring your well behaved children.
Please check if you will be attending and include the following in your post:
- How many in your party?
- What food/drink items you plan on bringing?
- Any special needs/requests.
*Keep in mind, the member "thebearpack" is fronting the $50 for the pavilion rental.
So, lets all chip in to make sure he gets his money back.
He has done a lot of leg work and research in finding an gun friendly park to hold this. So I would like it that he ends up paying nothing for the pavilion rental and we cover the entire $50 fee.
It should only be a few dollars each and its the least we can do.
Also, NOW is the time to make any suggestions or list any concerns so that they can be addressed in a timely manner.
The date, time is no longer negotiable and is what the overwhelming majority of members in the other thread agreed upon.
I look forward to seeing all of you there and I am sure we will have a great time!
Thanks for everyone's help in making this possible!"One must be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves” ~ Machiavelli

Re: West PA BBQ Check In!
In + 1. I'll be bringing an offset cooker and a grill. I need to know how many people are coming so I know how much BBQ to make. I'm happy to properly grill or smoke anything you might bring but I'll only be able to bring the pork shoulder... adding other meat products is a bit too much of a burden.
It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...

Count on two from "the pack". The little one will probably come too but won't eat anything anyway! I'll make some pepper shooters (cherry peppers stuffed with Italian meats & cheeses, yum).

I think if this wants to be an OC event, everyone should be on their best behavior to present OC in the best light - I would discourage drinking.

I'm "almost completely sure that I will attend"
Most likely +1
I can bring plates, cups, plastic-ware, etc...or buns or whatever is needed???
Just let me know.
Also my opinion on the alcohol is always never alcohol and guns at the same party. But thats just me, no disrespect to anyone.

I will be open carrying and I won't be drinking, but that is just me.
Also, just say what you are bringing since there is no formal list. Just look and see what others are bringing and don't count on someone letting you know what you need to bring. Just my recommendation.

Re: West PA BBQ Check In!
Alright folks, I just reserved a pavilion so it's all official now! Pickings were a little slim as we're less than a month out: I got pavilion #2 which is closest to both the play area and the community center & police station from 12P - 3P. We may be able to extend that another hour to 4 like we planned but worst case we can just clear out the pavilion at 3 and hang out.
It turns out they want an additional fee if there will be alcohol at the picnic and since it seemed like most responses have been anti-booze, I didn't pay that. If anyone wants alcohol I can add that permit at any time so let me know. Otherwise I think we're all set.

Bearpack - thanks! First Q goes to you for legwork.
Aside... why the fuck do you need a permit to bring your own beer to a public place and then drink it? That is absurd. This is exactly the sort of too much government bullshit that ruined the rest of Allegheny County. That ain't gonna ruin my Q... just sayin. It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...
