I was at a restaurant in a small town that was having a town festival (Bologna Festival in Yale MI) and my son spilled his drink horsing around, I made him stand in the corner while we finished our meal.

I got a lot of thumbs up and grins from the other patrons of the place as they watched my 6'3" 17YO son stand there with his nose to the wall.....

If God didn't intend us to have guns why would he have given us a trigger finger?

Was reading the news over at CNN.com and this sounded familiar after reading the original post & link from Fox...looks like it was great move for publicity, lots of national coverage:

But I figure the 21 and over and what would be a higher priced ticket would keep out those who are normally disruptive at theaters. After the house lights go down no more entry. If you leave to use the restrooms have the usher stamp your ticket for re-entry. Too bad it will never happen.
Reformatted that a bit, because it was ugly and I'm anal. Open that shit in Cranberry Twp please. I'll buy life passes the same day for me and the missus, and I'll add you to my will and Christmas party list.

As for the OP, my friend also saw this today but sent me a different link: http://thestir.cafemom.com/toddler/1..._under?next=61 Somebody's panties are bunched. Read the comments, they are priceless. Keep track of how many chowderheads liken banning children to banning <race of choice>. SIGH.

I wonder how this will affect his bottom line further down the road once the publicity dies down. There's no doubt his business will boom for the next few months due to the publicity. However, he has turned his back on a lot of potential and past patrons. A bunch of angry moms are a force to be reckoned with. There will also be many people who will go to his restaurant solely because of this policy.

Personally, I think he will lose out in the long run. I think he'll scare away more people than he'll bring in. It's his business, so he can do as he likes, but I think it was a bad move financially.

It bugs the hell out of me when my husband and I go out for a much deserved fine dinner and it is ruined by squalling, noisy, ill-behaved children.

Last time we went out, I asked to have my table changed, not once but twice because of unruly kids.

I hope the consequences of his decision are favorable.
When I lived out that way, we were about 15 minutes from McDain's, and on Tuesdays, IIRC, it was our regular dinner stop, as they had a great steak special.

When I get out that way to visit the parents, I'm going to make it a point to stop there.

mp517prct and I opted not to have kids, and it bugs the hell out of me when we go out to dinner and have to hear crying, screaming children, especially at a restaurant that I wouldn't classify as child-friendly.

I don't know what's wrong with parents these days. Why don't parents discipline their kids anymore. There is nothing wrong with a good swift ass kick to your kid when it is needed. I am not saying it is ok to abuse your children but you can smack them when they are bad. My parents installed a small sense of fear in my brother and I when we were little. Being a little scared of your parents is good. Keeps you from doing something bad because you know that your parents will smack your shit out if you are bad. When my kids are bad, I just have to look at them(with the look) and start walking towards them and they start apologizing. I believe in what people call "Old Fashion Discipline". That's how I was raised and that's how I will raise my kids. I hate going out to eat or to the store and all I can hear is screaming unruly brat children. And the parents say (in a sweet voice)"Oh Johnny/Sarah don't do that it's not nice". Really? You really think they kid is gonna listen to you? Grab the little fu*ker and threaten his/her ass and tell them if they don't stop you are getting the belt. If they don't stop.. you follow through with your threat. This is just my opinion.

My boys are 6 and almost 4 and they behave when ByblosHex and I take them out to eat with us.

...and if they start acting up a simple offer of "Would you like to sit in the trunk?" usually helps them chill out. It's never gotten past that point so far.

At any rate, kids who arent disciplined usually turn out to be undisciplined adults as well. I know being disciplined as a child helped me become a more disciplined adult.

It's like asparagas. Kids hate it even without ever having experienced it.

Or, saying, "If you don't stop crying, I"ll give you a reason to cry," can help too.
