Default 1911 Friday... two new additions. SW1911e and PT1911

Two new guns followed us home Friday. Finally got my hands on a SW1911 E series, and also got a 1911 in 9mm for the wife. Shoddy pics below, will follow up with some decent ones after we shoot today.

    Some pre-shooting notes:

The SW1911E is a beauty. I'm shocked at the extra quality of finish and feel now that I have one side by side with my Tauruses. I'm a fan of the PT1911 (now having 2) but now I can see where the extra money for the Smith went. And the trigger breaks like glass. Cannot wait to shoot this.

The PT1911 9mm came out of the wrapper SOAKED in cosmoline. What a sticky bullshit mess. I spent an hour with a cloth going over the gun last night while playing cards and it is still not clean. Going to go round 2 with solvent before lubing for the range trip. I noticed right away that the barrel in this gun is thick and fully ramped. I'll have to get a pic of that too. Very nice and should eliminate any chance of feeding failures.

Enough typing, gotta get moving if I want to shoot today. Range report to follow.

It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...

I'm jealous. I don't have any 1911's. I'm definirely more of a Glock man but Im definitely going to be getting a 1911 eventually.

Thumbs up Re: 1911 Friday... two new additions. SW1911e and PT1911

Very nice pair of 1911's you've acquired there. In my opinion the 1911 (in 45 of course) is a gun that every collector should have. I've got two and I love them, enjoy yours and post a report on your trip to the range goes.

I love all my PT 1911's. I shoot a lot so I want a good value with a great warranty. I believe the Taurus provides both. Just put a Hogue wrap around finger grip on my wife's PT 1911 in 9mm and she loves it. I like it pretty good, myself. $20. Congtrats and happy shooting!

I am going to put a clear enamel on her 1911 (the blued one like yours) so that it has the luster of the Smith in the dark color. Hope to post some pics of completed project.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
