Default so I have some extra cash...

And obviously it needs to be spent on a gun... I have been considering getting a 1911, or a revolver. I have been eyeing up the SA GI
.45, the S&W 627, the Ruger GP100, and a few other 1911's from SA, Colt, among others.

I like the SA for it's mostly authentic representation of the M1911A1, I love the looks and capacity of the 627, and I like the build of the GP100. I'm truly leaning towards the SA, since I have a Colt revolver already, and I cannot find a 627 in stock anywhere. I want my first 1911 to be as close to an original as possible before moving into the "custom" world. So, if it was your cash, what would you do?

    All the Best!

I'd probably go with the SA 1911, but FWIW, I had a GI-45, and traded it for a Range Officer. It continually "bit" me, which though a very nice gun, made it unpleasant to shoot.

Thanks for the input! I actually have hands on the smaller side and have never been bitten by even pocket pistols.

I have a GI "expert" by Para. Wouldn't buy another. The springer may be a better model as far as the GI pistols go. Love the 1911's by the way.

A world of possibilities... you need to define how much "extra cash" you have, and the basis for your interest in a 1911 - what is your interest, in general terms.

Intentionally did not address a revolver... if you don't have a 1911, that is where the urgency is.

The Colt is an option but I am not sure if I want to go that route, I would definately buy their repro they did of the M1911 and M1911A1 that they did last year I think though. As for the Remington, I do not feel that is is a true replica, considering the options that are on it, and I do not think it lives up to it's price tag. I'll definately take a look at the Colts when I get down to a shop!
