Default Declined my CCW but allowed to purchase a Pistol..

Does this make any sense? I was declined my CCW, but a few weeks later I went to buy a pistol. They ran the check and I got told I had to wait, they were reviewing it. A few days later my gun shop called and says I was approved and I could come pickup my firearm. Now I never thought to try to appeal the decision on my CCW Application. What should I do?

    Thanks!

If you were denied your LTCF (License to Carry Firearms, there is no CCW in Pa) you would have received a letter in the mail stating why you were denied.

From Section 6109 of the Uniform Firearms Act:
    (g) Grant or denial of license.--Upon the receipt of an application for a license to carry a firearm, the sheriff shall, within 45 days, issue or refuse to issue a license on the basis of the investigation under subsection (d) and the accuracy of the information contained in the application. If the sheriff refuses to issue a license, the sheriff shall notify the applicant in writing of the refusal and the specific reasons. The notice shall be sent by certified mail to the applicant at the address set forth in the application.
Please note the part in red. Call them up or pay them a visit - ask if there's any problem with your license application. If they say there is, demand a written notification via certified mail.

There's also the "character clause" that Philly uses to deny LTCFs for unpaid parking tickets, arrests that resulted in dropped charges, etc.

I'm going to have to go talk to them and see what they say. I've never had any serious/violent charges, because I am allowed to own my pistol. Thanks for the input guys.

First step is getting your denial reason in paper, via certified mail. Then we can take it from there.

(MY BOLD) Definitely do as the others said and get it in writing.

Can you think of any other possible problems why you may have been denied?

    PA is "shall issue" http://www.pafoa.org/law/carrying-fi...oncealed-carry
Pennsylvania is a "shall-issue" state in regards to LTCF's, meaning the entity processing your application is required to approve it unless they can prove you are disqualified based on the law.
    Good Luck!

Don't mean to be rude, but you say this like you have had some other charges.....any advice recommendations, other than you need to get a denial letter, are given with incomplete information, and will probably be utterly useless because of that.....

ETA check the regs HERE if you like
