Replacing barrels on a Maverick 88?
Hi everyone.
I have a (Mossberg) Maverick 88 8 shot security model shotgun with a 20" barrel. I am wondering if anyone knows if I could get a longer (e.g. 26-28") barrel that I could place on the shotgun instead in case I wanted to use the shotgun for deer hunting this season? Furthermore, is anyone aware of any rifled barrel that I could put on there as well?
If anyone has any info in this regard, please do share.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like you can order them straight from Mossberg, here is a link: http://www.mossberg.com/products/acc...section=access It looks like Mossberg has just about all the "flavors" including a rifled barrel also.
But you might be able to do better on the price shopping around the net, check Midway, Brownells etc...
I don't hunt with a shotgun myself, so I don't know the rules on if you have a magazine restriction, you may have to put a plug in the magazine tube.

I can swap my Mossy 500 barrel 28" ventilated rib and put it on my Maverick 88. Can't put the Maverick barrel on the Mossy though.

Re: Replacing barrels on a Maverick 88?
As Scoutjoe said, you can take 500 barrels and put on your Mav. The Moss 500 22" deer barrel works great on the Mav., but you have to put the five round mag on it. Easy fix. Though the Mav. is inexpensive, it can take a beating. My son leaves his all over the house and cleans it when he cleans his room. It is rusty, it stinks, and I have used it to teach a number of my daughter's friends to shoot a SG and take their first clay shots. Do some internet research research and you will find a bunch of stuff on the subject. The 26" Mav bird barrel is inexpensive as well, and with it, you will have to change to the 5 shot mag.
