    Default ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE!

SO! not five min. ago, I inserted a live mag into my Wilson Combat CQB with the slide locked while inside my apartment. I then continued to rack the slide back to load the firearm, as I do once or twice DAILY before I re-holster. My finger was NOT NEAR THE TRIGGER! As I released the slide, I was greeted with thunderous boom as my 1911 fired a round through my bed and several other objects, into the floor.

Needless to say I was freaked the F*CK out. Once i realized what happened I instantly dropped the mag and made sure the weapon was cleared, and proceeded to throw my bed and various objects out of the way to find the almost intact 230g. fmj sitting under the carpet.

Clearly, this came very unexpected, and I am somewhat disturbed as this is the weapon I daily carry.

Obviously I am not going to rack the slide back inside my apartment to see if it happens again..

    SO! any thoughts/suggestions/or advice here??

Why do you do this a few times a day?

Usually I unload the chamber when I get home.. When I go out I reload the firearm.

Don't know why it happened but what's the reason for unloading the chamber each day?

I never chamber the same round.. I put it in with the other I eject for the next trip to the range. Weird, maybe.. But i'd rather be confident the one I'm carrying is fresh and new.

When I get home I usually unload my 1911. Maybe daily is an exaggeration, but it is by no means irregular. And none of my guns have gone off while loading before.

OK, I've heard of cycling ammo before but not every day, then again I carry a revolver, no stress on the rounds.

My gun stays in the holster unless I am shooting it, cleaning it, or inspecting it. It is either on my belt, next to me when I am watching tv, or sitting on the night stand.
