    Default Semi-Positive LEO encounter

I was pulled over last night about 2:30 am in Shenango Township, New Castle, PA. He pulled me over because I "allegedly" crossed the fog line. Now mind you, I saw him and knew he was back there so thats a no go. But anyways, I pulled into a parking lot at a shopping center and stoppped. He came up, told me why he stopped me. I figured he was fishing, thought I was drunk etc because of the late hour. I knew he was gonna have me get out so I informed him I was OC. I got out and he watched me get my wallet( on strong side where i keep it) took my paperwork and permit. He then ran my papers for my car, looked at my ltcf and gave it back to me and let me go. The reason I labled it semi positive is he chastised me about carrying in condition 1. "It is unsafe and I can accidentally shoot myself or someone else" were his words. But yet he was carrying condition 1.Is it because he has formal training? This was a young LEO, I guarantee I have been shooting before he was a tickle in his daddys testicles. But all in all I was a little mad he berated me about my weapon.
I't ain't braggin if you can do it !

    ~snip~

Cooper favored the Colt M1911 and its variants. There are several conditions of readiness in which such a weapon can be carried. Cooper promulgated most of the following terms:
    • Condition Four: Chamber empty, no magazine, hammer down.
    • Condition Three: Chamber empty, full magazine in place, hammer down.
    • Condition Two: A round chambered, full magazine in place, hammer down.
    • Condition One: A round chambered, full magazine in place, hammer cocked, safety on.
    • Condition Zero: A round chambered, full magazine in place, hammer cocked, safety off.

Scaled state of readiness. It varies by organization, though I've mostly only seen it in the military.

IIRC the Marines are 1-5 and include weapon carry position as well as weapon status.

Condition 1 means pull trigger only. The lowest condition (highest number) requires loading the weapon and the ammo may even be separate from the rifle.

ETA: See above SoberByker's post above. 5 states, but numbered 0-4. I'm a bit rusty, it's been a while

    Question Re: Semi-Positive LEO encounter

    Were you carrying a 1911?

What was his response when you asked him why he held the opinion that he did?

Did HE carry a 1911 also? If not, how did you know he was carrying in
    C1?

I think with any glock-style firearm, if there's a round in the chamber, it would be considered condition 1 or condition 0. With my S&W, all you have to do is pull the trigger and it will fire, no magazine disconnect, nothing. Draw, pull, bang.
