    Default Blair County Smiths...

I need a quote from a local-ish smith. I'd like to have the barrel shortened and the front sight reinstalled on my 22lr rifle. Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith around the Altoona area?
    Thanks
    -Bob

I've heard Riggle's Gap works on guns...and a place called McConnel's. I have no experience with either of them.

BUCKMARK is a member here and from my understanding he is a smith down in Everett

It will be interesting to see who all you find around here, I wasn't able to find much

I do work out of Everett Pa.

Is Macintyre (sp) still in bidness over there in Duncansville? If I'm too far away, maybe give him a call....he was supposed to be pretty good....years back. I lost track of him.

I don't know if Mc is still operating. I have had work done by Dick at Riggles Gap Gun Shop and he is GTG.

I'll chime in that Macintyre at least still had his signs up, so I would assume that he is operating.

He hosed me hardcore on my first rifle though....so I don't go there.

Thanks for the leads. I'm going to check out Riggles Gap whenever I'm out that way.

If you get to Centre County, Ted Ulmer at Ulmer's Gunsmithing in Potters Mills does excellent work.
