Springfield's New XDM 5.25" 9mm Competition Gun
After some time of rumors, the truth is out! Springfield's release of a gun designed specifically for competition (USPSA, etc.).

I'm pumped about this. I was going to buy an XD 5" after this year for next year for USPSA, but now I am reconsidering going with this gun!
Thoughts? I'm sure the glock guys will have something to say! Be civil...HEY Subscribe to my YouTube Channel! < AND > My blog!

Interesting...

But;
The 5.25 sights are integral. The pin that holds the sight leaf is held in the frame itself. This results in a sight that is as low profile as can be. There is no dovetail, so you can’t change it, but fortunately you won’t want to. All XDs point as if they are an extension of your hand, and this “down in the gun” adjustable sight lines up just as naturally as the gun does.
So I can't change the sights even if I want to... Way to go SA.Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

If (great, big if) the sights are as good as Leatham says - he is getting paid to say it, after all - then I don't have any problem with SA getting them as low as they go, it's a trade off I can live with. If not, not.
The question is, how long before we can get our grubby little paws on one so we can see for ourselves?!
If this pistol is anywhere near as good as advertised, I'll take two.

I guess we'll have to see. Unfortunately what's good for Rob Leatham isn't good for everyone. Maybe most people, but certainly not all.

The XD(M) holsters are not some cheapo Chinese knock offs created as an afterthought. Springfield revolutionized the concept of case candy with their XD Gear and the holster is made in the same factory as the gun and fits it perfectly. You can open the box on your XD(M) 5.25, go practice with it for a couple weeks and step right into competition.
ok, got that out........
and IDPA shooters..... XD's are still considered a single action gun, so youll still be up against 9mm 1911's with a worse trigger than a G34. So... if the guns made for prodcustion uspsa who cares about the 19 round mags ? your limited to 10 rounds in production anyway.
who cares about low sights with that high bore axis ?
this gun is not IMO out performing a G34 in any way.

Sounds like a great comp gun but I think it's going to be a while before we see any. I just checked my distributors websites and they aren't even listed yet so that means they wont be available for at least 2 months. I will be carrying them as soon as I can.

At the bottom of the review:
"The problem for me as a reviewer is that the 5.25 was made for a world that I am not a part of. The only competitions I have shot have been SASS, which is cowboy action shooting, and I don’t actually have a competitive bone in my body. I have never even been to a USPSA competition"
Yeah, that sounds legit.

I could give a rats tail less what some schmo says about the gun, or how subjective the write up is. My interest is based on specs and if the gun is reliable. A close 3rd is how it looks and I'm excited about all 3.
