For a HD/SHTF/fighting gun, I would go Aimpoint.

But if its just a range/plinking gun, I find that Vortex makes well priced quality optics. They also have a lifetime warranty, so if anything goes wrong you are covered. I have a Strikefire on my Sig 522 .22lr and I have no complaints.

I had an Eotech xps2 very nice red dot but for accuracy purposes on my Ruger SR-556 it was not good enough at 100 yards. I bought a Burris Tactical 1x4 and can shoot nickels at 100 yards. I have the primary arms 1x4 illuminated reticle scope on my mp15-22 it works great.

Based on all the discussion on this topic over the past weeks, I just ordered a Vortex Srikefire Red/Green Dot Scope for my AR-15. It is my "starter" scope, and I anticipate moving up in the future, IF necessary.
