Re: the Firing Line Range?
I live about 5 minutes from the Firing Line in Whitehall. Since I'm not LEO, it's not cheap to shoot there, so I reserve it for when the weather is not nice, and I gotta get that 'fix' in, or, when I have friends or relatives over who prefer indoor ranges, and who don't have memberships to anything local. Most of the R&G clubs have very limited guest shooter privs (ie, once only, or none at all). Additionally, while the Firing Line guns aren't cleaned very often, it's nice to be able to 'try one on' for fit and shooting comfort. Plus, since they aren't cleaned very often, you can get an idea of which guns are still decently reliable in the worse of conditions. The guy behind the counter seems knowledgeable enough to be helpful if you have a problem, as he does know his stuff.

Re: the Firing Line Range?
I shoot there from time to time in the winter. It is expensive, but a couple times over the winter is not too bad.

Re: the Firing Line Range?
No way it's as cheap as a gun club, obviously. But if you want to shoot at an indoor range over the winter, I suggest a 3 month membership. It's between $50 and $60. Not cheap, but you could blow that in 3 visits if you like to stay for over an hour.
It is a nice indoor range. The staff is friendly and they are no dopes.
Yes, they will watch you if you are new to the range. It's very easy to hit the baffles due to the configuration of the range. Once they know you they leave you alone. And the guy who probably pissed most people off is no longer there. So it will be better for you now. He was a very good guy. He really stuck up for me once, sticking his neck out against some LEOs. Even though I only met him a few times. But a little abrasive when protecting the range components. The remaining guys are much more polite about it.Last edited by ungawa; January 26th, 2010 at 03:26 PM.
