Desert Eagle .50AE... should I buy it?
Found a used .50AE DE... only 7 rounds through it, polished chrome finish. I think these go for $1600 new. Wants $1300... comes with 3 boxes of ammo and spare grips.
Definately not a carry gun, but would be fun to shoot. I wonder what the value of these will do over the years...Last edited by JrFreak; June 24th, 2011 at 06:39 PM.

I think you may it to be not so much fun to shoot. .50 cal isn't for everyone. Just saying...
I'd shoot it if given a chance but there's no way I'd spend that kind of money to own one.Μολὼν λάβε

It is very UNfun to shoot. For me, at least. Same kind of idea as shooting something like the 454 casull. The gun weighs about 30 lbs, makes more noise than a cannon, and the ammo costs $2 a pop. My friend bought one in the early 90s. I shot it one time. No thanks.
That said, to each his own. If you like a big boom from a big heavy gun, this will fill that need.

Hell if you can afford it without letting the kids go hungry, get it, but as for increased value down the road...........not so much. I love the looks of them but have absolutely no use for yet another exotic with expensive ammo.

They go for $1000 here and there if you shop around, especially at a show. 7 rounds, only. Get him to knock another $100 off and go for it if you have a grip like King Kong and can afford $100 everytime you shoot it 50 times. Oh, be prepared for nasty scowls from your neighbors at the range when you shoot it. Not trying to talk you out of it, at all. No, really, what ever floats your boat. I do shoot my loud shit at times, but usually when the range is empty or very slow. Not to disagree with you, but you CAN carry one of these as long as your holster looks something like a Coast Guard rescue harness. Just kidding.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

If you've got the scratch to spend on something that's purely a toy go for it. If not you could PM me about it, I've got a buddy who's looking for one.

Should I buy it?
I'd say, if you have that itch, scratch it. But really the price is slightly inflated. Even with the added goodies. Can you let the offer sit awhile?
You can find other barrels (my favorite is my 14" .357 Mag.) Price? ((It cost $45 with another Mag., if you are interested))With a 6" barrel, a complete Desert Eagle handgun (any caliber) sells for $1,099. I got mine after a lot of patience on GunBroker, for $700, all SS, cleaning-kit and a very impressive Mag Res case. An additional I0" tube in .50AE might add $65. QUOTE==>" Want the full system with both 6" and 10" barrels in all three calibers (.440 Cor-Bon barrels not included), all in a black ballistic nylon-covered aluminum carrying case? The whole works is only $3,341." end quote<=== (GunBroker ask price, not sure who bought, but it's gone. I got my 14"/.357 on Broker, listed on the wrong site, and only paid $45.00 for it 4 yrs ago.) If you just gotta shoot up your .50 bullets, I advise a pair of weighted, "interrogation gloves" to soak up the power. Eventually you can progress to a plain pair of latex exam gloves, which really keep your grip glued down. .357 shots hurt less than a Glock-21 with +P. But double ear protection is required with the .50s. DONT BEND YOUR ELBOWS until you are familiar with the recoil, with any load.Last edited by LongOneShortOne; June 26th, 2011 at 10:36 PM.
