Interesting find !

I was helping a friend clean up a storage space and we found six belts of machine gun ammo , six belts approx. 80 rnds. each,every 6th rnd. orange tipped,(probibly tracers) ,with .77 LA. stamped on the caseings with some other stamp which I can't make out. What are they and what can I do with them ?

Are you sure it's "LA" instead of "LC"?

I don't have anything in my list for a "LA" headstamp, if it IS LC 77 it is most likely going to be 7.62x51 on M-60 links.

Standard ball .40-.50 cents each.

Tracers .75 to 1.00 each.

78 or so tracers= $58 bucks or so.

400 or so ball= $160 or so.

M-60 links aren't worth really anything.

Interesting find indeed. You could also take pictures of everything and post here asking for info on everything. There is bound to be someone here that would know what you have.

Made in Lake City. 1977 was the year of production.

As 762xIan said.. ..probably 7.62x51mm NATO. Ball ammo with tracers.

If they are not corroded or visibly damaged, shoot em! If there is corrosion or damage, call around to your local shooting ranges or police departments; they should be able to safely dispose of them for you.

Pretty much the only ranges around here(same area as dman) are unattended sportsman clubs. The police will probably tell him to throw them away in the garbage.
