    If not, now's the time.

    If you have, you might want to watch again before you keep your appointment. Doing "nothing illegal" really has nothing to do with the matter at all.
    It can save your ass. Good luck and I hope it's nothing serious.

    .
    In this case I'd talk to the police to cancel the scheduled meeting.

    wow, I cant believe after all the advice the OP has gotten, he is still asking questions about it.
    After reading this, and if you are stupid enough to go there without a lawyer............ghead, have fun.

    I know money may be tight, but how tight will it get after they add you to something for some reason.

    I wouldnt go there. I guess you have been fairly warned. Good luck, I hope it is nothing

    I agree. If it is important, they'll be back with a warrant. I would contact a good attorney, just to be on the safe side.

    If you have done nothing wrong, then you have nothing to hide. It could be something that happened in your area, and they are questioning everyone in the area. You really don't know, and all of this posting is mere speculation.

    Personally, I have to agree with the majority. Unless the police had a warrant, there is no way in Hell I would go to their place to answer questions, especially if they won't discuss it over the phone. Try to find a lawyer to have on standby, in case they try to bring you in. If that happens, utilize your right to remain silent until you speak to your lawyer.

    Oh, and btw, this is how I would handle this, but IANAL myself.

    Do you still have that note, and would you scan it here for us, please? If it's just an "informal" chat they want, do it by telephone;
    "Just a moment sir, while I turn on my recorder" [WFR] <==telemarketing lingo for "Wait for response." Then just be kewl and CONTRIBUTE NOTHING SUBSTANTIVE TO THE CONVERSATION, beyond "yes", "no", "don't recall." If they won't tele-talk with you, then request a FTF in a very public setting WITH RECORDER OBVIOUSLY present, a surrounded surreptitiously by as many friends as you can garner, sitting nearby (you may ask of those here on this post whether they'd like to be silent witnesses.) No-one here is stroking you!! You may be in an actual bind, and the LEO just wants to finish the cinch on your rope. Now, can we see that LEO-note, please?

    Take the biz card, throw it in the trash, and don't go to the meeting. You will probably never hear from them again.
