Concealed carry at the Liberty Bell
Does anyone know if it is legal to concealed carry at the Liberty Bell in Philly? I'm headed there today and I'm leaning towards No.

Looks like on the grounds will be ok. The buildings are off limits. Any one chime in if this is off base.

Re: Concealed carry at the Liberty Bell
That would be a NO - the LB is inside a FEDERAL BUILDING/structure............the rest of the area is National Park - but it IS Philly---------------carry concealed where you can....but not IN any structures.

Re: Concealed carry at the Liberty Bell
When they did the OC carry protest in Philly the other month. One of the stops was the Liberty Bell.
PPD did not want us walking there since it was federal property and they have separate security from the PPD. After some discussions on what the law is, we were escorted to the outside area of the bell. They would not permit anyone carrying in the part where the bell was housed.
So, if you are CC, you will should be fine if you don't want to go into the secured area.

5. What security measures are in place in the park? All visitors visiting the Liberty Bell Center and/or Independence Hall are required to process through security screening facilities similar to that in use at airports.
Firearms in National Parks
The law governing possession of firearms inside a national park changed on February 22, 2010.
Visitors may possess firearms within a national park unit provided they comply with federal, state, and local laws.
The role of the responsible gun owner is to know and obey the federal, state, and local laws appropriate to the park they are visiting.
Please remember that federal law prohibits firearms in certain park facilities and buildings. These places are marked with signs at public entrances.

Re: Concealed carry at the Liberty Bell
You can carry in the area around it, but DON'T enter the LB or any other building. As was said before, be very careful on Federal property/buildings. Last thing you want is one of the security guys throwing a hissy fit... media would have a ball, and deal a serious blow to us CC'ers. Have fun though!

Re: Concealed carry at the Liberty Bell
I recently went into a few buildings around Independence Hall and at the security gate there was a sign saying what not to have on you and one was a pocket knife. I had my pocket knife so I removed myself from the line, but a person behind me also had one and security just inspected the knives and told us not to pull them out. There was no scanner there and I probably could have made it through without declaring my pocket knife, but I'm an honest Abe. I'm sure carrying a firearm is a def no-no over near Independence Hall.

Re: Concealed carry at the Liberty Bell
Yeah definitely a nono. Independence hall, the liberty bell, etc, is federal property, so falls under the same rules suchas not being able to carry into a courthouse, or city hall. I know it sounds kinda tough for serious CCers not to carry sometimes, as you get so accustomed to it, but one things for sure that with all the Park Rangers and DHS around, you won't be gettin robbed lol
