Default What is the proper sight picture for a G19?

Picked up a new 4th gen Glock 19. I've got it centered where I want it, but I'm shooting low. I have to get someone else to shoot it, I know. I think I have a rock steady grip, and I'm aiming center of mass on the target. The recoil is very manageable so I don't think that I am flinching. Hope not anyway.

So if I'm aiming at the center of the target I'm getting nice tight groups at 6 o'clock. Too soon to make any changes, but it seems like I need to get a shorter front sight.

The same as it is for virtually every handgun on earth.

How low are you shooting? You can change point of impact in a couple ways, the easiest of which is to switch bullet weight. Heavier= higher Point Of Impact, lighter= lower Point of Impact.

You can alternatively buy an adjustable rear sight assembly, or file the front sight to raise point of impact.

Got any snap caps or dummy rounds? Stick one in your mag randomly and you will see it you have a flinch real quick. Also slowly squeeze and let it surprise you.

in all seriousness glock has 4 different height rear sites you could change out original for a taller one. other option is glocks adjustable rear site it's 4 settings coincide with the fixed site options. personally for me out to 15 yards i do center hold, after that i go to a 6 oclock hold these positions keep me on center mass hits. i have the parts(sites) in stk. plastic or metal for fixed and plastic for the adjustable. let me know if i can help. red dog

It depends. Some of my pistols shoot this way, some put the bullet in the bullseye when I aim at 6 0'clock, and some require you to cover the target with the front sight dot.

I had a G19 and I was always low and to the left. First off, I was flinching, and 2nd (for me) is was the lighter weight of the gun and it never fit my hand right.

I ended up trading it in for a full-sized Beretta. For me that was dead on out of the box. Now I find that I'm low and left again. Less so then with the G19.

One thing that really helped me was a video that I can't find now, but it was about the follow-through. Previously I was taking the trigger all the way back out after firing. When I slowed down and only released the trigger to the "click"

This wasn't the video, but something to consider:

Which takes only seconds to figure out once you start shooting.

That's the trigger reset. On a Glock, its a beautiful thing when you learn how to manipulate it. Double taps are the name of the game.
