    Default accuracy issues

Got a question for you all. My Savage .308 has been a tack driver since I got it over a year ago. It has a synthetic stock & acuu-trigger with a Nikon Pro-Staff 3-9 scope.. It's sighted in at 50 yds, shoots great at 100 yds. Shoots great at 200 yds too with about a 4-5 in holdover, just last week I wore a ragged hole at 200 yds. Took it shooting yesterday & it was all over the place at 100 yds & of course 200 yds was even worse.
You got any ideas what's up ?
I've been shooting from a rest till last Christmas when I installed a bipod but that was also good till yesterday. I'm really confused about this.
Let me know what you all think. Thanks

I am assuming you checked out the scope mounts rings bases and all is tight. I also assume same ammo. The newest feature is the bipod. Did you recently have to tighten it ir is it loose? Nothing interfering with the barrel? How does the bipod attach front sling swivel? Is it rubbing the barrel. Just some simple checks.

First thing that I would would be the scope mounts. Make sure they haven't loosened up on you.

Yeah,I should've mentioned, already checked scope mounts & stock screws, everything is tight. When I tried to re-sight it in, each click is supposed to be 1/4 in, but it was moving bullet placement more like 3-4 inches.

Maybe the inner workings of the scope are gone?

Scope mounts good, same ammo. Bipod is tight,it attaches at front sling swivel, however I noticed a little flex with the stock when the bipod is engaged that I didn't notice before & I don't know why or if I just didn't see it before. It does flex just enough that the barrel can just touch the stock on the right side

Loosen both triggerguard screws and retighten them, starting with the FRONT guard screw.

Take the bipod off and see if things improve.

If the rifle returns to its former accuracy level, then see if you can correct the mounting of the bipod, or place thin metal shims under the chamber area of the barrel.

If the accuracy is still bad without the bipod, try a different, known to be good scope.

Ok,I'll try that tomorrow when I go back to the range, thanks. I'm wondering if the bipod would be causing this, but if so,why all of the sudden now. Thin metal shims ? Like maybe 24 gauge ? I did have someone mention I might need bedding work done. Is that DIY or gunsmith work ?
The scope I'm using has been extremely good for about a year now, bought it new, never dropped or banged around, but if all else fails I'll try swapping that out as well. I'll know more tomorrow after my range time.
    Again,thanks for everyone's input

Scopes crap out. New, used, whatever. They are not indestructible, no matter how nice it is.

Here is a tutorial on bedding: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubb...2630347&page=1

If it shot well before and shoots like poo-poo now, something gave way. Bedding will not cure your problem. As previously prescribed, try a new scope. Once you get it back to where it was, you could bed it to try to squeeze some extra accuracy out of it.
