Who has Florida permit to extend their carry area?
Now that I've got my PA LTCF, I'm thinking about applying for an out of state license, So I can carry while on vacation or during out of state travel.
I go to Ohio now and then, so that's one state I want to be able to carry in.
Ill be going to Alabama in the fall, and likely florida and a few southern states in the next year..
The Florida permit seems to be valid in a lot of states(Including Ohio) and looks like it might be my best bet.
Any of you have it? Easy to get?
Looks like I need proof of some formal training to apply for a FL permit.. any idea of what type of courses would be acceptable?(I've never taken an instruction)
Thanks guys!

I have a Florida non resident permit so I can carry in PA.
I went to an NRA beginning pistol course at a local range. If I remember correctly, you can use the PA hunter's course as your training.
Local police for fingerprinting.
Many UPS offices have a notary service and can also take passport sized photos.

I've got mine for the same reasons and I used my DD214 as proof of training, fingerprints were done at the PD in Pottstown. Didn't take long after I mailed it in either.

Re: Who has Florida permit to extend their carry area?
I picked mine up a couple of years ago. Found a class that provided all the paperwork and "training" (fired all of 3 shots). But just about any training that requires live fire is OK. If I had it to do again, I'd consider Arizona. Not as many "hoops," same reciprocity, and not as expensive.

Utah's permit is a great one to get and the training is good to have. We have a class scheduled for Scranton, Pa and we're working on one north of Pittsburgh. We hope to have details on that one available soon.

It is probably good to get FL and then get AZ as all you need are prints and the FL CCW as proof of training. AZ will in July give you Nevada but FL does not.

I just read on handgunlaw.us that AZ requires 8 hours of training and that the training must take place IN Arizona...

I have PA, AZ, FL, and VA. FL was very easy to get, and I did all the paperwork through the mail. It took about a month.
