    Default New gun ideas !

Long story short, last year I had some medical problems,a stroke to be exact.
It effected my hands in a really frustrating way.
I own two Glocks, a 17 and 36.I love and miss shooting very much plus the most important issue, self defence. I've lost most of the motion in both thumbs
    with obvious problems ,slide stop,mag release,etc. .
Can anyone suggest a revolver that might aid in ease of use?

Truely frustrated , thank you .

    S&W 686 comes to mind.

Won't reloads on a revolver still be difficult without the use of your thumbs?

I would think a newer glock would allow you to reverse the mag release and use your index finger to drop the mag. I know a lot of lefties (the dominant hand kind, not the Pelosi kind) have had to use their index finger to release mags on guns built for righties.

The slide stop is only useful for intentionally locking the slide and maybe with enough training you could devise a way to activate it with your left hand?

Thanks for the input but I've been trying to reteach the hands some new tricks but I can't stop droping everything! You might not want to go shooting with me just yet !

I've been looking at some new pistols but I'm not done working with the hands .I'll keep looking and trying and will post what happens.
One other question,do they make handicap stickers for pistols?

An HK USP or USP compact has a mag release you hit with your trigger finger. Some have safeties but you can always decock it and just carry with the safety off.

+1. Also the Walther p99 has the same mag release.

I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

I knew a guy a few years back that was a quadriplegic. He had partial use of his hands, but didn't have much use of his thumbs. He prefered semiautos because they were much easier to swap magazines at the range than load loose rounds into revolvers. He used his left hand to manipulate the mag release and slide stop or used his wheelchair to catch the rear sight to drop the slide. If you do decide to go with a wheel gun and dexterity is an issue, you might want to look into one of the S&W's that uses moon clips. That way you can buy a bunch and load them up at home and reloads at the range won't take as long.

This guy has only the use of 1 arm and has trained himself to use a SW99 ( walther p99 clone)

BTW the newer p99 is completely ambidextrous including slide release.
