Do off-duty LEO's open-carry?
With all this talk of OC vs CC lately here, I started thinking...how often do off duty LEO's open-carry?
If they don't...why not?
I have not seen anyone around here OC, except for once about 6 years ago.
I was in Staples in Uniontown and a middle-aged guy came in with a pistol, in holster, on his hip along with a female (kinda seemed like his secretary) and they were buying office supplies. Don't know if he was a LEO, constable, or what, but employees were buzzing about it. I don't think he got hassled though.
So again, back to my original Q...how do off-duty LEO's feel about themselves OCing?

Re: Do off-duty LEO's open-carry?
It's different for a sworn LEO, I believe.
Something tells me they're not allowed to OC while off duty. And, if they carry concealed, it has to be a specific weapon, a service approved one.
I may be wrong... But I think I'm right.
Anyone else?

Re: Do off-duty LEO's open-carry?
When I was an LEO, I never O/C'ed, even when I was on-duty, unless there was a quick stop to the store and I didn't feel like grabbing a jacket. There are a few reasons: #1: I didn't want everyone to know I was an LEo or think I was everywhere I went, #2: Alot of people do freak out when they see a gun, and would notice that long before they ever noticed the badge on my hip, last but not least, #3: I would rather surprise someone with the gun I had hidden, then to advertise and make the BG freak and do something stupid because he feels cornered.

Yeah, Philly and the PRNJ, so it makes a big difference. In a place where OC is normal, then anyone can just fit in. My only concern would be the whole idea of surprising a BG and making him feel cornered. That is when the element of surprise is on your side, but I don't discourage anyone from OC'ing.
