RUGER SR9c PEENING? **UPDATED**
Has anyone here dealt with this? What I'm really wondering is how Ruger is still getting away with it...
I ask because I'm currently doing the "Ruger tango".Last edited by StingyGunner; June 30th, 2011 at 06:15 PM. Reason: update

Re: RUGER SR9c PEENING?
Ok i'll try to get some pics up. I took some pics a few days before it left for Ruger in Arizona. They're not as clear as I would like, and it got worse after the pictures were taken..simply from racking the slide. The reason why I wondered how they are "getting away" with it is because it is a metal problem. This soft metal we're talking about, and when it's on a firearm that's definitely not a good thing. Mine, though the pictures may not adequately show, was worse than what I saw online. I'll work on getting them up for you.

Like I said, it got worse and peening also developed back on the barrel lugs near where the loaded chamber indicator is.Hunting is NOT a 2nd Amendment Activity

Yeah... Don't think I would be thrilled about that. How many rounds through the weapon? And when did it start?

Re: RUGER SR9c PEENING?
That's the best part! The gun was never fired, only "played with" if you know what I mean. The slide was just racked, and even from that I noticed it getting worse before we sent it away. So, to be honest by the time we sent it away it was worse than anything I had seen online. So we sent it and it got to Arizona on..Friday I think. So We'll let them have it for a while. It's really disappointing and I just keep thinking that Glock and Sig etc. don't have these problems... It makes me wonder what Ruger's problem is. I love the gun from what time I got to spend with it but...

Unfired? Wow....Fuck that shit! Why would that hood be so soft? Wonder if your barrel was just unhardened and snuck through some how?

Re: RUGER SR9c PEENING?
Well, what confuses me is that I can't recall noticing anything at the store. I really think it got progressively worse just by racking it and the like.
I don't see it as a "snuck through" problem. I see at something be very wrong with their metal or their processes. From what I read online, it's a hit and miss issue though. Frustrating but, whatever...today's day #1 at Ruger.Hunting is NOT a 2nd Amendment Activity
