*updated in last post* July Rifle / Carbine Match
July's match will be very similar to June's.
There will be three separate squads with mandatory safety meetings @ 9:00 AM, 12:15 PM, and 3:00 PM at the 100 yard range.
This event is welcoming to new competitors but the 3:00 PM slot will be a smaller group specifically tailored for anyone who has never been to a competition or organized shoot and may feel like they may get lost or be in the way of more frequent participants.
Each participant must know how to safely operate their rifle before attending.
Limited slots available and pre-registration required (see bottom of this page)
General Info:
$10 for Oley club members $15 for non-members cash at event
This is a friendly, casual competition, but we are not casual about safety.
There will not be the opportunity to sight in before the event.
Shooters move through the Course of Fire one at a time.
Shooting positions include standing, kneeling, prone, SBU prone.
No running required: There will be changes in shooting position and stations, but they are less than 20 feet apart.
We shoot rain or shine.
This is a participant driven event: When not shooting, participants will be aiding in the timing, scoring, and taping of targets.
Required Equipment:
Eye and ear protection
Chamber Flag (loaners available on site)
Minimum Round Count of approximately 120, but 140 + is recommended.
Semi-automatic or bolt action allowed
Centerfire or rimfire allowed.
Magazine or clip fed (such as Garand, SKS, 1903s) actions allowed.
Tube fed actions are NOT allowed.
Minimum of 60 rounds pre-loaded in magazines or clips.
Maximum of 30 rounds per magazine.
(extra AR mags are usually available from other shooters including me)
No bipods or deliberate/loop slings for this event.
Carry slings not required, but may be used if you can safely transition from standing to prone with muzzle under control.
Chest rigs, vests, or mag holders are not required, but can be worn.
SBRs and Suppressors allowed.
Extra staplers are appreciated too, if you have one. Especially so if it rains before or during the event.
Black Tie optional.
Detailed Course of Fire Info:
Exact CoF will be explained after the safety meeting before shoot begins. There is no need to memorize it before the event day.
There will be approximately 25 targets, most at 100 yards and a few as close as 50 yards.
Target size will vary from 14" x 30" IDPA style silhouettes to uhh much smaller. I won't throw anything out there less than 4 MOA though.
Each Target must be hit twice. Zero holes in target is two misses, one hole in target is one miss.
You decide how many shots to take at each target.
Each shooting station/position will have designated target groups.
Scoring is raw time plus penalties for no-shoots and Misses.
Shooters move through the course of fire one at a time.
Shooting positions include standing, kneeling, prone, SBU prone.
Each transition and station change willl require shooter to engage safety, remove magazine, and clear chamber.
Magazines may be dropped, but you will need one for each shooting positions if you drop them (4 or 5 total)
Magazines may be staged at each or some of the shooting positions if one doesn't wish wish to carry them or if one lacks the pockets or rigs to do so.

Re: July Rifle / Carbine Match
If anyone is interested in practice for the superlative Mogadishu Mile event put on by Freddy Wissing and his associates at NHRPC, The July 2nd Oley match will be also be a somewhat official / informal practice session with a similar (but not exact) CoF.
