    Default Interested in SBR.

So over the last few months I have been getting more and more interested in picking up an SBR. From surfing around and shooting friends, I am leaning towards an AR platform. I looked around a bit and found the Troy M7A1 Upgrade.

I have not gone to any C3 dealers and talk to them about pricing and procedures yet, but I am flipping through as many websites about buying a SBR as I can. I checked out the guides on here.

So to my question. As a beginner to SBR, am I better off to buy a package deal like this, or should I pick up a basic AR and build it into this ? The M7A1 shown is what I want. End game I would like to put an EOTech on it, and use it for home defense. From everything I can see on Troy's site, this is a complete rifle, correct?

The way I see it, it's:
    $1800 Rifle
    $200 Tax Stamp
    $600 EOTech
    $??? Fees and Associated Costs.

I'm estimating $3k. Is this set up worth it? or can I builld it cheaper.

    Any words of advice ?

Sorry for being so uninformed, but everyone starts somewhere right ?

According to the link... "LOWER RECEIVER NOT INCLUDED"... Not complete.
(BUT it certainly seems to lead you to believe it is.) It says "upgrade kit"
So I'm thinking it is an "$1800 optional add-on for another rifle".

Troy is top quality. They are including lots of "upgrades".
BUT you can get ANY pistol upper & install it on any SBR/MG registered lower receiver. SO... YES you CAN do it MUCH cheaper, but maybe not using "TROY" parts. Whether that matters, is entirely up to you.

Frankly that is WAY too much money! BCM makes and sells other manufactures shorty uppers, a much better way to build your gun and tailor it to what you want.
