Default Fitting a Hi Point Muzzle Brake On A sub2000 carbine

I recently purchased a Hi Point Muzzle Brake for their 9mm carbines to install on the barrel of my Kel Tec sub2000 9mm carbine. The muzzle brake itself simply slides onto the end of the barrel, and it has a small set screw that can be tightened for a snug fit. Unfortunately, the muzzle brake is just a tad wider than my barrel, and it slides on and off the barrel freely, even with the set screw tightened all the way down. Do you guys have any ideas on how I could make this thing fit my sub2000 barrel without any machining? I was debating about wrapping a small section of the barrel with electrical tape until I reach the desired thickness, then tightening the muzzle brake set screw down over the taped portion of the barrel. I've included a picture of the muzzle brake that I'm trying to install. What do you guys think?

I probably suggest using metallic muffler tape if you need to use a shim at all. Is it possible to simply put a longer set screw into each hole?

I'd be a little leery of using a flash suppressor that doesn't seal properly to the barrel. It probably just me, but I would be afraid that some of the gases might be deflected back towards me.

Thanks for the info guys. I ended up making some aluminum shims out of a pop can. We'll see how things go at the range.

Damn.. Beat me to it. That is what I was going to suggest.

I had to do that with a rifle years ago. It worked for me, I've long since sold the rifle but as far as I know the guy that bought it still has the muzzle break on it.
