    Default vest for concealed carry

Hey all. I have found that the members here give some very helpful and good information, which I have appreciated very much. I need some more advice.

I've been looking at possibly investing in a vest for ccw; prob not for all the time, but for a good portion maybe. I know those photographer's vest tend to scream "gun", and I also feel the point is not to let anyone know, including the bad guys, that your armed, since that could cost you because of losing the element of surprise. One such vest I have been considering is something like this; http://www.holster-connection.com/ht...apel_vest.html
It seems like it could be worn in most situations, except when dressing up, in which case there's pocket carry or wear one of those dress vests or suit over a tuckable holster. Still, my concern is if something like this would scream "gun", or be too obvious in public; if that's the case, then I will just stick with a good holster and belt.

Any opinions or advice as far as this goes is appreciated. I'm mainly trying to find out if something like this vest would be too obvious, if there's perhaps a similar, better alternative, or if sticking with a holster all the time is best.

Vests, unless you are carrying about three cameras at a newsworthy event, scream "gun."

I can't advise you as to any tactical advantage/disadvantage such a vest may convey to the public.

However here is a direct link to Coronado Leather which currently has concealment vests on sale:

I've been considering the same thing.

If I was in Arizona I might consider such a vest but one of my resolutions was to attempt to be more fashion concious, and certainly either of those vests would crush that for sure

    Here is an option:

Vests don't have to signal "Shoot me first". A little distraction, such as a patch that is unrelated to guns and the great outdoors (think Vito's Pizzeria Bowling Team or some such nonsense), can work wonders. If I wear mine, it generally has the pockets crammed with cell phone, water bottle, camera, monocular, tissues, magnifying glass, pens, notebook, keys, the usual everyday stuff one carries in their pockets.

Oversized shirts, untucked, are the norm for me, tho.

Talking Re: vest for concealed carry

Vests only scream gun to other gun aficionados.

The general public just think you're a nerd.

Hey now, go easy on the vest thing. Used to think the same negative stuff about them, until I got one of the leather ones. But now I wear one quite often. I have to agree with what Dave said about only gun folks noticing though. It will enhance your wardrobe for sure, unless you think man sandals and shirts with little gators is fashion.

    Personal opinion here.
    A vest?
Count on being confronted by the "fashion police".
Would it scream gun? Probably only to gun people. But then again gun people wouldn't wear a vest to "hide" their firearm. Many O/C without incident, and those that C/C well they know how to C/C, no vest needed.
Would it scream fashion offensive? Yes. Might get some eye rolling.

Why not just wear a shirt over your firearm?
I think your going a little overboard with the vest.
