Need Help Choosing on New Gun
I'm currently trying to sell my revolver to buy a new handgun. Originally, I was going to buy a G27. Then the other day, I saw Rock Island has a 1911 for under $500. I initially wanted the G27 so I would have a smaller CC gun, but then I saw the 1911, and I was torn. I have a G23 already, so the CC gun isn't a big deal. I know the RI 1911 isn't a top of the line model, but for the price I just can't resist. Anyone have this 1911?

Re: Need Help Choosing on New Gun
i dont have a rock island but i do have a springfield 1911 that was only around $650 and love it. so much so that i end up carrying that over my taurus 650 cia in .357. they are a little bulky but can be concealed with out much hassle if you would still want to cc it. and with 1911s even if you buy a cheaper one you can upgrade parts for the most part and get a really nice firearm. you wont regret going with a 1911.

If it were my paycheck funding this purchase, I would go with the Glock. The odds of you getting a reliable Glock for 500 bones are significantly higher than getting a reliable 1911 in that range.
If you like the grip angle of the 1911, have you considered an XD?There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Then I would say that a Rock Island Armory 1911 is your huckleberry. Good luck!

Re: Need Help Choosing on New Gun
I agree with this ^. Except for the XD part...
Agree also, and am torn the same way. Just a little different scenario. I've got about a grand to spend on a gun toy. I really want an FNP45 Tactical. But... considered getting a 1911 instead, and maybe another gun to go with it. Because honestly for $1k I could probably pick up a Kahr CW9 and a decent 1911...
I was looking at the FX45 from ATI. They can be had for $399. I'm sure it's not awesome out of the box, but if it's parts interchange I can swap shit out until it's what I want. And I actually enjoy doing things like that.
So same boat as you. Or do I buy the FNH and call my .45 desires good?

Last time I was in Tanner's (recently), they had a RIA tactical two-tone new, for $515. Just sayin'.

Re: Need Help Choosing on New Gun
I have the RIA and a G27. The RIA has gone bang every time. I don't shoot the G27 as much as I should. If I had to get one or the other, I'd say RIA.
That being said, I recently got a Springfield Range Officer and its a tack driver."Unus ut caput capitis"

Re: Need Help Choosing on New Gun
Not sure what budget limitations you have but the new Ruger SR1911 sure looks like a great gun and the cost is not much higher than the RI. I like Glocks so just follow your gut.
