Re: Transporting an AR-15...
Perfecly legal tho to load it up and sling it over your shoulder while walking the dog or checking the mail.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Re: Transporting an AR-15...
Can you cite this "ammo/mags separate" law? I will give you a hint... you can't.
18 Pa.C.S. § 6106.1: Carrying loaded weapons other than firearms
(a) General rule.-- Except as provided in Title 34 (relating to game), no person shall carry a loaded pistol, revolver, shotgun or rifle, other than a firearm as defined in section 6102 (relating to definitions), in any vehicle. The provisions of this section shall not apply to persons excepted from the requirement of a license to carry firearms under section 6106(b)(1), (2), (5) or (6) (relating to firearms not to be carried without a license) nor shall the provisions of this section be construed to permit persons to carry firearms in a vehicle where such conduct is prohibited by section 6106.
(b) Penalty.--A person who violates the provisions of this section commits a summary offense.Hoplophobia is funny

Re: Transporting an AR-15...
Guns that use detachable magazines, any loaded magazine that is suitable for a gun that is present must be in a separate container.
Guns that use fixed magazines need only have no ammo in the chamber and magazine.
Loose or boxed ammo does not have to be separate. ..only loaded magazines suitable for the guns present.
18 Pa.C.S. § 6102: Definitions
"Loaded." A firearm is loaded if the firing chamber, the nondetachable magazine or in the case of a revolver, any of the chambers of the cylinder contain ammunition capable of being fired. In the case of a firearm which utilizes a detachable magazine, the term shall mean a magazine suitable for use in said firearm which magazine contains such ammunition and has been inserted in the firearm or is in the same container or, where the container has multiple compartments, the same compartment thereof as the firearm.Last edited by knight0334; June 7th, 2011 at 09:08 AM.

Re: Transporting an AR-15...
In a vehicle, unloaded
On foot, can be loaded/unloaded, concealed/unconcealed with or without a LTCF
In Philly or in vehicles, you need a LTCF

Re: Transporting an AR-15...
You must be driving directly to/from a range, gunsmith, place of purchase, vacation home, or fixed place of business even if it's unloaded. UNLESS, of course, you have a LTCF.
But yes, as stated above it needs to be unloaded with mags separate. The mags can be in the same case as the rifle, IF the case has multiple compartments and the mags are in a different compartment.
Also, you can keep it loaded if it is an SBR.
(I think you can keep MG's loaded too because they are not considered rifles, can anyone verify that?)Last edited by bac0nfat; June 7th, 2011 at 09:20 AM.

Re: Transporting an AR-15...
Can you open carry a rifle in PA? I have an AK and would like to open carry it.
Do you think the cops would stop and harrass me over that and how does the procedure go for that again?
If you are allowed to, are you allowed to have ammo in the mag?
