Default Sig Sauer p2340 .357 Sig

I'm currently in the middle of an AR build but attended an auction the other night which featured a couple of firearms. Most of the firearms were antiques but there were a few modern firearms, a used Bushmaster AR-15, which went for more than it was new and semi-auto thompson 1928 A1 which went for over $1300 when you can buy a new one for like $900.

I was getting irrated since people were paying way over MSRP for USED firearms. To make matters worse the owner of targetmaster and his brother-in-law were there bidding up prices for the auctioneer, don't mind the Sherman Anti-trust Act.

I had my eye on 2 pistols, a S&W .40, but the guy next to me really wanted it and I didn't need it that badly but as I watched the auction the auctioneer was not happy with the low bid so he says to the TM owner "$120 for this huh Tommy" and immediately he began bidding against the kid until the pistol was well over $200.

The next pistol up was a Sig P2340 in .357 Sig. At this time most of the people had left the auction since the Thompson sold so I figured what the hell I could use a .357 sig in my collection. I noticed the targetmaster owner was busy talking with someone and decided to bid. I was against another guy but he saw I wanted it and backed off saying he had too many guns as is. I ended up bidding $180 and after taxes and fees paid $220 + $35 transfer at targetmaster (against my will). Overall I was happy with my purchase and can't wait to shoot it.

I've got some free time this weekend so I'll break out the camera and start snapping some photos for those interested and I'll be sure to let you know how it shoots. This is my first Sig and after handling it I can tell I just opened Pandora's box.

Unless somebody has seriously messed with that piece - you will NOT be disappointed. I got one in .40S&W and added the .357SIG barrel - great shooter in either caliber - no hiccups and extremely accurate - more so with the .40 barrel. Magazines are available at fairly low cost (lots of the 10 rounders around at bargain prices) and one size fits both cartridges. ENJOY.

I don't know a whole lot about SIGs but know what they sell for so I'd say you did good. I have a G32 and G33 and really like the .357sig cartridge. Ammo is gouged locally and is expensive, best to buy online.

Right at this moment i am wearing my Glock 32 .357, its a great round, a little bit too powerful for what i like in a carry gun , but its a great round.

I have the Gun that preceded the Sig you bought ,mine is the SP2009 in 9mm, the Sigpro line of SIGs are great reliable guns, i love my 2009, i just put it away untill winter comes around again.

    Enjoy your Purchase.

Thanks Guys. The gun seems to be well maintained, I gave it a nice cleaning last night and to my surprise it was fairly clean. The guy who owned it before me was actually at the auction and told me he was selling off the odd calibers in his collection and he wanted to keep his pistols to .45, .40, and 9mm. He was pissed it didn't sell for as much as he wanted. It came with 2-10 round mags and he offered to cell me 2-12 rounders for $15 a piece.

I'm in the middle of mulching and staining my deck but when I get to the range I'll let you know how she shoots.

Finally got to the range last week and got to shoot my Sig P2340 in .357 Sig. What a sweet gun. I first was taken back by the wide design of the Sig as I am used to my S&W M&P40. After a few mags the Sig felt flawless and the sights were dead on. My groups were much more consistent than my M&P.

Needless to say I now am hooked on Sigs. If the P229 is anything like my P2340 it's getting placed on my future purchases list.

Most say the 229 is even better!

But you did well with that auction.

As far as Target Master bidding just ti up the price, I guess that's a good reason for me not to ever shop there.

I saw one of them at the gun show in Valley forge today and almost bought it it was selling for $ 459. It was used but in nice conditions. You will like any sig, believe me. I currently own a 2009 P226, 1994 P220, 1994 p229, a 1998 p229, 2 1988 P6's, 2010 P238, 2011 P229 elite enhanced and monday I am picking up a 1989 two tone P229. Do I like sig's you ask? Just a little.
