    Default Honest Opinion, Jennings .25?

I know they are bottom of the barrel, I know all the negative stuff on these. DO THEY WORK? Does anyone have one? Serious answers only please, I only paid 80 bucks for it so......

"DO THEY WORK?" Yes ... sometimes; however, sometimes they don't.

If you are planning on using a J25 for protection purposes, in my opinion, that would be a mistake.

Never owned one, but from what I here if you dry fire the thing you will damage the firing pin. It is the bottom of the barrel, I would just use it as a range toy and that is very "iffy."

Someone said a picture is worth 1,000 words so here is a picture of a Lorcin firearm.

I know above picture is of a Lorcin but it's a kind of gun made by Ring of Fire Firms:

This group includes Jennings which became Bryco, Raven Arms, Davis Industries--all of which are owned by Bruce Jennings or his relatives, & Lorcin Engineering Company.

I agree with the comments above!!

IMHO if you are looking for a paper weight a Jenning will work out great.

They are among the quintessential Saturday Night Specials. That having been said, many do work as long as you realize that they are fragile. The Jennings are also complicated to disassemble and maintain compared with more robust guns, which makes for a double whammy since they need more careful maintenance. Dry firing will damage the firing pins on many of these cheap pistols.

I don't have a Jennings, but I do have a couple of the original Ravens from before Raven became Jennings, then Phoenix, and then others.

They are fun to shoot if maintained and you don't dream of rapid fire. In terms of HD/SD utility, they are the final back up after you've used up your .50 BMG rounds, all your 12 Ga. shells, your .44 mags, your .357s/9mm/.38s, .380s, .32 acps, and cooked off your Makarov. Get that last zombie with it before the credits roll.

If you are going to use it, I suggest you grease everything instead of oil. My Astra A-20 .25 was a jamming nighmare, no matter how much I cleaned and oiled it. When I started using wheel bearing grease on the slide and around the barrel, it fired away everytime. Oil does not let some of these little parts move freely when some powder residue builds up. For self defense...not.
