I've bought at least 5 used firearms in the last couple of years. I've been satisfied with every purchase.

Depends on the gun and the price, but for my part it's a definite yah. Most of the guns I've bought lately have been used or at the very least purchased and not shot by someone else. I've gotten some really sweet deals on great guns that have lots of life left in them.

Things to consider are the price and condition and the selling source. I've gotten good deals from both local gunshops and people I've met thru the forums. Take your time, do your research and you'll be surprised what you can find out there. Good luck and happing hunting!

Exclamation Re: Buying a used gun: Yay or Nay

In 30 years, I've bought three new handguns.

The several dozen OTHER handguns were used.

No complaints in the first 30 years, so....

Guns are like cars: people don't get rid of them because they're worn out; people get rid of them because they're bored with them and want to try something new and different.

I've bought close to 60 used guns since I was 18. None of them had "issues" because I inspected them before buying it.

I purchased two used guns in the last few years. The first gun was a mid-80's vintage gun that was well cared for and in excellent condition. The second gun could best be described as "un-used". Yes, someone had purchased it previously so it couldn't be called new, but had gotten rid of it very shortly after buying it. It was, basically, a new gun.

Overall, I'd say they were both great buys. I'm glad I made both purchases.

with only a couple exceptions all of my guns were bought used. if it doesnt show signs of abuse go for it. police guns are great they may have holster wear but they usually arent shot much.

far less than 20% of my guns were bought new.

I don't actually own a gun that was new when I purchased it; everything I own was used to some degree or another. Used is a great way to save money. If you are concerned and doing a private sale, find a local gunsmith that will give it a once-over before you fire it. You can get some great deals if you do some value research and stay patient.

I've bought new twice out of the last 20 or so guns I've had.

Just be knowledgeable about what you're look at. The internet is a great tool. If you're looking for revolvers know what to stay away from and what's desirable. Same go with any other type of gun.
