    Default Springfield TRP Operator review

Picked one up at Classic Pistol 2 mos. ago. Didn't really want one with an accessory rail, but that is all they had, and the gun devil on my shoulder said do it, and I did.

I am very very happy with it. It has shot flawlessly from day one with my reloads, and any factory ammo I have given it. One issue I had was that the ambi safety seemed to be very tight. I could set and unset the safety while holding it in my right hand very easily. But if I used my left hand the right side safety wouldn't completely push down the left side. Springfield gave me the choice of sending it back, or try working the safety several hundred times to work it in. I probably worked it a thousand times, and it wore right in. Now both sides work just fine.

I've put about 500 rds through it. At first I could feel the extra weight of the accessory rail, and it bothered me. This was my first pistol with that feature. My accuracy was ok, but nothing great at first. Slowly I've gotten used to the extra weight, and it probably helps keep me on target. Today I was making single ragged holes at 15 yds, and if not ragged holes then 2 inch groups.

Expensive? Yeah. Most money I've spent on a gun. Worth it, to me it is. Some of the people I shoot with like their Taurus's and Colts and whatever. They are all nice guns, but this one makes me look good. Definitely a keeper.

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Hehe, shame. Well, here are some 1911s, since we don't get to see yours.

456 - That's what a GOOD 1911 suppose to DO, along with shooting dead on.

Funny, I wanted one with a rail but all they had were standard models so that's what I got. Would have really liked a full length rail TRP but sadly they don't make them anymore.

I think those TRP's are awesome but I can't bring myself to buy a 1911 with a rail. I wish they made one without the rail, I'd get one in heart beat.

They do make the TRP without the rail. I've got one on my hip.
