Bedding advice
I have a Browning A5 I am currently working on. I have been hand carving the stock from some beautiful quilted maple. Unfortunately, this is going to be the 6th stock for this gun in its life. I want to bed it but I want something better to work with. I have used the acraglas in the past and I was hoping there is something easier and less runny but still gives the same effect. Hopefully something that you could still add steel to if need be. I just don't want this stock to only last 10 years like the last couple. Any other suggestions. It tends to split every stock it has ever had.

Re: Bedding advice
if you are splitting stocks one of three things is prolly happening.
1. wrong wood
2. poor fit
3. excess maintainance oil getting down into your stock (store oiled guns muzzle down)
acraglass is the only way to go. learn to use modeling clay to fill areas of your action that glass should not get into, and to use enuf glass to get uniform support in all critical areas.

Re: Bedding advice
It's not my gun it's a family members. This is the first time I am making a stock for it and I don't know who made the old ones, he probably just order original replacements. I have used acraglass and acragel a number of times before, I just wanted to try something different.

Re: Bedding advice
I prefer Acraglass gel but have had good results with Marinetex.

Re: Bedding advice
I was going to mention the Gel also, but it's already been mentioned. The gel in my experience isn't "too runny". Most of the options I'd mention have already been mentioned. Good luck
