Re: Just picked up a S&W Model 1000.
I have one of the old line S&W 1000s that were made for them by Howa from 1974 - 1985; I bought mine in 1984. It has been my "go to" shotgun for all sporting applications. It's light, accurate, fits me perfectly. As it approaches the 30 year mark for me, it still functions well. I just worry about the availability of replacement parts as it ages.

I did not know the old Smith and Wesson 1000 were made by Howa. From the research I did you either had a great one or like my dad had a bad one. Constant cycling problems and neither one of us liked the way it pointed. He used as his back up for his Remington 1100.
Did You get one of the new models?
