    Default Concealed Carry in Texas

    Hi All

I will be traveling to south Texas in the next couple of weeks for work. Most of the time I will be staying and working close the Mexcian border. From what I hear it can be a little rough especially with all the activity with the cartels. Can somebody let me know what restrictions, if any, there are in Texas regarding concealed carry? I carry a S&W MP.45 loaded with HP's.

Be careful no matter what you carry they probably are in numbers and carrying more firepower then you.

Texas doesn't have a uniform firearms act like pennsylvania does. What that means is you can carry lawfully in one town and in the next you're committing a felony even with a license to carry. These little signs can usually be found at the border marker when entering a town but are rather minuscule and easy to miss.

I carried in TX on my FL licenses in Houston, Dallas, Lake Conroe, Austin etc. I had no problem and in fact I think TX is probably one of the more gun friendly states with down to earth people. Enjoy your trip.

A "uniform firearms act" is when all the gun laws are conglomerated into one title or chapter, uniform to an example of codes. It was a theme of the 1920's and 1930's for most states. Before then gun laws were often spread out in several titles and chapters, and varied drastically from the several states. A "uniform firearms act" unified the codes.

Also, Texas has preemption and a TX or reciprocal license is good throughout the Republic of Texas.

Might have been old signs.. ..or towns trying to be like Philly.

Even New York(judicial ruling) and California have preemption. Only a very very few dont.
