CC in Harrisburg
Hi PAFOA-forumers!
I will be vacationing in Harrisburg, and will be visiting Hershey. I was wondering if there were classic touristy type places there that were not friendly to a CC-er. Like I know I can't CC when we tour the capitol building, but what about the civil war museum, Hershey park, and other attractions?
I can get a complete list of places my family will be visiting later, my wife's the itinerary Queen, not I.
Thanks, and I will check back later.

Re: CC in Harrisburg
I know Hershey Park has a no weapons policy. They have security w/ wands at the front gate, but not everyone gets searched.

Re: CC in Harrisburg
While they do have a no weapons policy, I have never been searched. Nor anyone in our party. In fact, I can't say I have ever seen those wands being used. I'm sure they do, but if you are a regular looking family guy, my bets are that you won't have a problem getting searched. Oh, and if you don't carry in a big bag, the likelihood would go down even more, I would guess.
Also, when entering, I did not see any signs that said anything about weapons. I know it does say it on their website somewhere in the fine print, but they don't make a big deal about it, that's for sure.

Re: CC in Harrisburg
You can carry to the capital, just not in it. However, there are amenities that allow for storage.
Also, not that it is on anyone's list of places to visit, Harrisburg's city hall still has its illegal no weapons policy. You cannot turn the other cheek if you are already dead.

Re: CC in Harrisburg
I can't make any promises about Hershy Park proper, but I've carried a full size pistol at Chocolate World and Zoo America. I have never been wanded or searched at the park but I haven't been there in a few years. They will search bags, so no off body carry. We all know that's bad juju anyway, right?
I believe you can check firearms at the rear entrance to the Capitol building (you may want to call and verify this). It is worth seeing if you've never been.
While downtown it would behove you to walk down State Street (right in front of the capitol building) to 2nd Street and take a left. About 3 blocks from the intersection there's a place on the left side of the street called The Sandwich Man. If you like piles of meat and cheese on freshly baked bread this is a must see attraction. I highly recommend anything on the "G" menu (G is for grinders. I like the G9 or the G11).Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

Thank you for the replies so far!
Here is a list of the things we are interested in seeing, so you can tell me your carrying experiences with them, if any.
Thanks again, PAFOA, this place is extremely helpful to new to carrying folks like me.
I will be on the road today, so likely not able to post, but I can get all your replies via email on my phone, so let 'em fly!

Troegs is ok but ABC is just down the road on Cameron street and they do tours. Their beer is better and they have food. Troegs is moving to a new building in Hershey.

Re: CC in Harrisburg
If you suspect wands will be used try wearing a large metal belt buckle and tuck the pistol behind it. ( not acceptable for court houses or capital building)
