Default Cleanning supply for Enfield NO4 MK1?

Hello i just bought a 1943 Enfield No4 Mk1. it's pretty dirty i can't see any rust but it's pretty old. I would like to get some recommendations on what type of chemical agents i should get to clean this rifle and what type of oil or grease i should get to keep the rifle from the elements and prevent rust. i don't have anything right now except a basic cleaning rod, cloth from my old T-shirt that i torn up.

if possible give me the brand of the product.

    thanks!

Start cleaning the bore with a power solvent, then dry and use a copper solvent, dry and apply a coat of oil. Wipe down the rest of the metal with some oil on a cloth. You don't need the oil dripping off...just a coat.

Does it have cosmoline all over it or just kinda dirty? Try some waterless hand cleaner (non gritty) on it. I used it on my garand and it took alot of the crud off..

surplus stocks are a tricky subject.
to clean cosmo up(or out) heat is the best. the back porch on a sunny day works great, or on top of a heat register.

most types of cleaners will stripe the stock of it's finish as well as cleaning it.
i "drain" mine and let it at that.
it's only metal, we can out think it....
