Took my .308 to a 1000 yard range today.
1000 yard range was awesome. It was really 1075 yards, which I found out after my first 3 shots fell very short of the target. Came up 5 MOA and adjusted for wind then I hit it. It's a choir at 1000, you really have to read the wind, and it's always changing.
Elevation 950 ft
Wind 13-20 mph @10-11 o'clock
Temperature 81
Density Altitude 3086.0
I was shooting 175g SMKs out of my Remington 700 VTR ( 20 inch barrel. )
w/ a Bell and Carlison A2 style stock, Harris Bipod and a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22X56
My glass got a lil dirty.

That is awesome! I lived in Austin from 93 - 99 and I didn't shoot much back then. We were a struggling young couple back then so I wouldn't have been able to afford many cool toys and the ban was on back then anyway. I wish I would have at least had a nice bolt gun to take advantage of the 1000 yd range you found.

Thanks for the multiple pics at different ranges. Gives a nice perspective of the distances.

Nice pictures...that is good hitting 1k with a 20" barrel. I would imagine it's difficult to shoot long range in TX just because of the mirage.

The wind picking up thouhgout the day was the hardest thing. I'm still learning to judge it correctly. That and it changes over 1000 yards...

Good job nice pictures and nice rifle setup! You need a spotter with the spotting scope at those ranges.
