Default My local DA set to educate gun owners

Just received this from my local club.
Do you have a firearm in your home?

Yes? Please set aside Tuesday, May 31st, from 7:00 to
9:00 pm for District Attorney Matt Fogal.

D.A. Fogal will bring us up to speed on the laws,
regulations and case law that directly impact our
ownership, storage and usage of guns. We are responsible
citizens. Therefore, we must be knowledgeable.

See you on May 31st at the World Harvest Outreach
Center, 1090 Wayne Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
Please contact Erin Berry at 717-709-9024 for directions.
I plan to attend, as well as record the presentation.

It will be interesting to see what that is all about. Be sure to keep us posted.

Is it safe to assume you will have a copy of applicable laws on hand, just in case?

I think I'm familiar enough with the applicable statutes to not need notes. Further, I don't intend to attempt to debate him in this forum, but a letter to the editor of the local paper may be in order if there are any glaring issues I feel need to be addressed. The recording will document exactly what was said, in case there is any response from his office that suggests I'm not representing the presentation accurately.

The presentation starts 15 minutes after the scheduled conclusion of an impending root canal, so I hope I can still get a good seat. I'll be interested to see what kind of turnout there is too.

I wasn't implying you would need notes for yourself to refer to. Sorry if it came off that way. I was thinking more along the lines of "proof" in case any incorrect info is relayed. I guess it's a moot point if you don't plan on correcting any discrepancies on the spot.

    Is the venue public property?

No, it's private property, but I'm still leaning heavily towards OC. Being asked to leave for legal behavior at an event where the DA is specifically there to speak on firearms law would be a pretty bad PR move, IMO.

I went to the same high school as this guy (one year ahead of him). He was also the prosecutor on one of the cases when I was up for jury duty (not selected), and I disclosed our 'connection' when asked. I've also seen him out in public while I was OC, so I'm fairly certain he knows "who I am" in regards to firearms and my not too distant history with the Sheriff's office.

I have my own personal opinions on where he stands on firearms related legal issues, but would like to hear some things from his own mouth. I think it's a good opportunity I have to further educate myself on the possible likely actions that could occur if I were to be involved in a defensive shooting in my home county.

I plan on attending as well, I got the same notice you did.

I can see if I can save you a good seat.

    Haven't decided OC/CC yet.

Perhaps it is a sign of the times because when I saw this thread I could have sworn the title was 'My local DA set to execute gun owners'.
