AK-74 Range time

Went to the range today and wanted to test out the sights on my rifle. Range was limited (shot at about 25 yards) and I'm also pretty new to firearms, so my aim is probably not the greatest. I was really just shooting for fun - wasn't trying to impress anyone with amazing groupings. And, because the world is coming to an end on Saturday, I wanted to practice!

Bottom line is that the rifle shoots true and I had a lot of fun.

Rifle is an SGL31 and I was shooting Silver Bear.

Very, very nice! I have a Saiga 7.62 with a 20" barrel....I'm still impressed with it's accuracy after 2 years!

I also keep saying that Silver Bear is some of the best off the shelf ammo you can get. I've also shot Silver Bear in my pistols with great results!

I agree - Silver Bear is awesome stuff.

Plus, AIM Surplus always has killer deals on Silver Bear ammo.

My wife fell in love with the POS Bulgy AK-74 that I bought last year. I took her to the range because I told her she should be familiar with it, since it was going to be the "bump-in-the-night-bedroom-gun. She doesn't like to shoot rifles very much, but shot it until the smoke was rolling off the barrel.

Really fun guns, and fairly cheap to shoot, too.

It's definitely fun - In fact, I don't think I've ever had this much fun with a rifle before.

The guy in the lane next to me had a 47 and was admiring my 74 - I'd shoot it everyday if I had time.

i think the AK74 is going to be my next purchase....seems like a fun gun to shoot with relatively cheap ammo....

Yea, be careful it is addicting. I went shooting thrice a week a few weeks last month

You won't regret it.

The rifle looks menacing, is loud as hell, and functions flawlessy. I haven't had a single malfunction after 300 rounds so far (typical AK performance).
