Kevin Johnson - Johnson Tactical, LLC (Monroeville-Pittsburgh)
Just got it back today from my buddy Kevin Johnson, at Johnson Tactical, LLC here in Pittsburgh. Notice anything different about it?
How 'bout now?
I got hooked on ambi-safeties when my first pistol was a S&W 1006, some 20 years ago. I get 'em installed on ALL my 1911's, but the UC II with Crimson Trace grips presents quite the challenge!
Thankfully, Kimber OFFERS the ambi-safety on a couple of their Covert series Crimson Trace-equipped pistols - the UC II isn't one of them, though. A little surfing of Gunbroker located both a STANDARD Kimber ambi-safety setup, and then the custom, short, wide r/h paddle. Makes for a $75 ambi-safety (ouch... ), but I think the result is worth it!
Kevin is building my SPR as well, so whether you need something simple - like a new safety installed, or a while rifle built - he's the man I trust in western PA!

Even though rifles are his specialty, he's a full-service gunsmith, working on pistols, shotguns, & NFA items, too.

He did some work on my Kahr CW9. Reduced spring, lightened up the trigger and cleaned out all of the metal shavings that seem to be abundant with CW9's a bit. It runs flawlessly.
I think I am going to ask him to look at my Walther P22. It was sent back to S&W and completely redone. It's worse now than before it was fixed.

Thanks WarWagon! I really appreciate all the kind words!
As for finishes, I'm only doing very limited parking right now and nitriding, which is sent out. Nitriding is the same process Glock uses on their slides. It's extremely durable and rust resistant.
